Good Dog Kc – Nicole Ortega and her daughter Scarlett were among thousands of people who added a fur baby, a Goldendoodle named Kahlo, to their families during the pandemic. Inspired by puppies, a mother and daughter entrepreneur decided to start a business together to create and curate a collection of stylish accessories for dogs. Nicole is the owner of Clothz Minded, an organic shop for women in Westport. Raised in her mother’s shop at only four days old, Scarlett quickly grew to take on more responsibilities, helping her mother distribute clothes, ringing customers at the register and, as per her mother’s recommendations, I was in charge of styling clients in fashion. Nicole noticed her daughter’s entrepreneurial spirit from an early age and saw a good dog as an ideal opportunity to give Scarlett space for her talent.

However, in September 2021, Nicole was diagnosed with breast cancer. This shocking news ended the idea of starting a business with Scarlett. Unfortunately, Nicole’s cancer treatment required several hospitalizations. For the third and final time, he suffered heart failure severe enough to require a blood transfusion. The near-death experience made Nicole willing to waste even more time. He wanted to jump on a unique opportunity to launch a brand with his business-savvy daughter.

Just 9 years old, Scarlett is the charming lady from The Good Dog. She sews a denim dog bandana with mom. Accessories include things like collars, leashes, key chains, and even dog toys and treats. Scarlett and Nicole focus on making dog accessories more beautiful, infusing the brand with beautiful earth tones and natural fibers. Unlike many dog products, the sophisticated Good Dog range is designed to complement your dog and home. With her new business, Scarlett has taken the initiative to learn more about all types of dogs in order to best help her clients. His family calls him “The Dog Whisperer” because he has a very natural affinity for animals. Scarlett proves to be the consummate salesperson, with an infectious enthusiasm for educating and interacting with her customers and wonderful patrons and an incredible knowledge of Good Dog products. They are very reactive and aggressive animals, so I also thought about how people would react. We searched the internet for trainers to help and support us, but we didn’t trust anyone but Good Dogz. With the tools and training we have, we are ready for almost anything. Even if you live in an apartment complex, walking your dog feels a lot safer. My poor 1 year old lab has been home for 6 months now and my husband and I have had enough! So we started looking for dog training options. Luckily we found Andrew and Jahairah. I quickly found them to be very knowledgeable and confident in their ability to make our stubborn dog obedient without stifling his gentle nature. We discussed our family goals of walking the dog in public without pulling him and to keep him from jumping, pawing, and barking. And we decided it would be best to give our dogs a month of residency and training so that Andrew and Jahairah could really learn. When our dog came home, we were surprised at how well he listened and obeyed our commands. Andrew and Jahaira took the time to explain how to satisfy our dog’s desire to hunt, explain simple daily training and go over simulation plans to incorporate into our daily lives. Following my trainer’s recommendations made my life a lot easier. I love spending time with my dog and I feel that my bond with him is even stronger. He is such a good boy! We needed a little help to make sure all his needs were met. I am no longer afraid to go to the vet or meet other dogs. We had a great time with you and Bristol! You were a great student and passionate about achieving your goals. When we first met, Bristol was a wild puppy. Your goal was to improve leash handling, reactivity at the end of the leash, and an overall better relationship with your dog. He still has a fun-loving personality, but now you can lead him to good opportunities. It was wonderful to see him walking so well on a leash and avoiding distractions. All the hard work paid off and I couldn’t have asked for a better student.
If I could give more stars I would. They will become part of your family. My son did a lot of work and brought home a new dog. He is very excited to meet them because they are now his people. It’s great to collaborate and stay up to date. I am a helicopter mom and never once did she make me feel like a nuisance. Ever since he came home, they’ve been keeping an eye on us both, making sure we’re on track. Vino and I are blessed to have him as a part of our lives.
