After all, the holidays are more fun when you can bring your best friend. But finding dog-friendly hotels in New England takes a lot of research. What is the hotel’s dog policy? Are there additional fees? Are there restrictions on water or race? And you may worry about sacrificing comfort for traveling with your dog. Is the only option to “break” in dirty roadside motels and campsites? Or is there a place that not only accepts dogs, but also meets dogs and their owners?

Located on the shores of Lake Champlain, Basin Harbor believes that a family vacation is incomplete without a four-legged family member. Their pet policy allows well-behaved dogs of all sizes in the cabin for a daily fee of $20 per pet. To book online, you can select any house and then add the pet fee to the payment.

This resort has everything you need to have the perfect vacation without leaving your 700 acres. Choose from a variety of fun activities for the whole family, from land to lake. The pool and guest corner are pet-free areas, but dogs have their own designated pool, Fanny’s Beach. We can even rent a sailboat to take Roscoe out on the lake! You can also eat in one of the five restaurants of the resort. Dogs are not allowed in the dining room, but are welcome to dine with you in the outdoor seating at Red Mill. Field Guide Lodge in Stowe is an elegant boutique hotel managed by Lark Hotels. Like many of their properties, their pet policy allows dogs under 70 pounds for a fee of $50 per day. Out of respect for other guests, dogs are only allowed on a leash in the hotel lobby and outside common areas.
This hotel stands out for its elegant-luxurious decoration. The living room, decorated with a retro wood stove and plush leather seats, invites you to curl up with a book or a board game. You can have breakfast in the cafe or drink in the new Après Only bar around the old ski. You have to turn off the outdoor heater first, which is a bit inconvenient. But the advantage is guaranteed to be yours. And the location can’t be beat. We can walk to the center, and the mountain tour stops in front of the hotel. It’s the perfect start to your and your dog’s Vermont adventure.
Pet-friendly Getaway At The Nantucket Hotel
The Inn at Mountain View Farm is a very special place to stay in the heart of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Per their pet policy, dogs are allowed in select rooms for an additional $50: Peacham, Danville, N. Danville, Maidstone and Lost Nation. You can select the “Pet Friendly” option to book your room online. The house is very pet friendly, with a friendly golden retriever working at the desk and there is also a petting zoo. Be aware of your dog’s reactions to other animals!
We stayed in the Deluxe Peacham Room, a cozy but comfortable home. Roscoe especially likes to sleep in front of the wood stove. In the morning we were welcomed with hot pastries and coffee in the main building of the inn. Just when we thought we couldn’t eat any more, the innkeeper brought out his famous pancakes served with fresh blueberries. We cannot help ourselves.
Located on a 400-hectare hill in the northeastern part of the kingdom, this historic farm is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. Must go down at dawn to see the sunrise, pastel pink and purple flowing. On the mountain and in the morning there is fog in the valley.
The Kimpton Taconic in Manchester has one of the most liberal hotel pet policies I’ve ever come across. Everyone is welcome, from hair to hair, as long as they fit in the elevator! No size, weight, breed or number of pets are allowed, and there are no additional deposits or fees. Filter by pet-friendly when booking online and fill out the pet form at check-in.
Dog Friendly Portland, Maine
Kimpton Taconic is the perfect place to pamper your dog. The room is stocked with food bowls, toys, toys, and an Orvis dog bed. (Orvis flagship store on the street is a must with your dog). Dogs are allowed in the hotel’s restaurant, Copper Grouse, in the lobby and on the front patio dining area. In the winter, they have outdoor heaters to keep you and the dog warm. You can also request pet services, including pet sitting, dog walking and pet spa services, by contacting the front desk.
Made Inn Vermont in downtown Burlington is a home away from home for you and your pets. Pet Policy This charming downtown boutique and breakfast welcomes well-behaved friends for $25 per pet per day. You can book directly online, be sure to add your dog to the number of guests and specify the details in the notes.
We stayed in room 904, one of the large rooms recommended for large dogs. Even Roscoe was great, and the bathrooms were downstairs (though at least they were private). The exotic nature of the residence may not be for everyone, but it is in a great location within walking distance from the center. The owner is very friendly and ready to offer recommendations for restaurants and things to do in Burlington.
Located between Killington and Rutland in central Vermont, Mountain Top Resort is not only dog friendly, but they prioritize dogs. Their pet policy states that dogs are welcome in four luxurious king rooms and accommodations with Vermont kibbles, dog beds and bowls. You can reserve it for an additional fee of $50 per dog. Maximum of two dogs per unit. Dogs must be registered at the time of booking.

With simple yet clean rooms, it’s also one of the cheapest hotel options in Stowe. Breakfast leaves something to be desired, so go elsewhere for breakfast. But have a drink at The Fritz Bar and sit in a comfortable place with your dog. Choose to play games in the fireplace in the great living room, read a good book in front of the large sunken fireplace, or sit around the outdoor fire pit.
