Best Places To Vacation With Your Dog – Going to a national park with a dog has many limitations, but it can also be a very enjoyable adventure if you know what to expect before you go.

First, know what to expect when you go to the park with your dog. It is quite simple, they are generally accepted in wide paved spaces such as gazebos, paved walkways, campsites, etc. As the Ranger at Bryce told me, “feet on the march.” Some parks have more paved trails and walks that allow more exploration than others and some allow dogs on more trails than others. For example, we had many areas to explore along the rim of the Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon, most of which are easily rated for everyone. Although Zion and Capitol Reef have the fewest dog walking trails, they offer a great experience running through the park with our cars.

But it is good to have a dog and in most National Parks you will be limited in the park areas you can explore. If you’re going on a National Park adventure with your dog, I recommend bringing a friend so you can have someone hold your dog while you take turns seeing the parts of the park you don’t want to miss. It’s rarely a good situation to be able to leave Leo in the car, as parking spaces are usually blocked and finding shade is a rare event. So we have to have it with us all the time. We took turns going to the store and the visitor center, walking down a few trails we didn’t want to miss. This often means long periods of sitting and relaxing with Leo while other people wander off. I still enjoy it because Leo likes to meet people and is very good at walking.

This type of environment is not easy for dogs that are not naturally social. Although most people were very good at asking permission to pet Leo at each park, people started petting him. The little boy ran up and wrapped his arms around us to the surprise of both of us, the little boy barking at him as he passed. Some dogs came to his face, their owners were so distracted by the spectacle that they didn’t even notice them. This is the reason we didn’t take Nick because I wouldn’t be able to enjoy it, because I would have to keep looking after him to help him manage the situation while Leo could do it. Yes, I still support it, but the reality is that in a park with hundreds of people around you, it’s almost impossible to see everyone coming while you’re enjoying the park yourself. In addition to helping protect your dog from unwanted contact, it’s important to be aware that not everyone likes dogs and some people are afraid of them. So part of my job is also to take care of people and be responsible and respectful of giving people who are in doubt a lot of space so that they don’t have to pass them by if they’re worried.

Can you see me hiding? In every photo where she could be strapless, I’m actually there. I could be hiding behind him, behind a rock, or standing next to him just out of shot. Do not remove the dog in the National Park!

We found this to be a fun park to explore with Leo. There are many views it supports. The high altitude meant it wasn’t as hot as some of the areas we visited. There were a lot of great hiking trails that he didn’t allow, so we took turns hiking with him while other people explored. It was allowed on the paved road between Sunset and Sunrise, it was a beautiful walk full of views, only half a mile long but it made for a great walk that we could all enjoy together. We stopped at the visitor center and picked up a Bark Ranger tag for his collection.

The Pa’rus trail is the only trail in the park that allows dogs, but look at the ground next to this sign, the entire trail is covered in foxtails and I’m afraid it’s me the whole time it’s sniffing around. he spent the whole time trying to keep her safe which made for a very unpleasant experience so we quickly left. The Grand Canyon has the most opportunities to explore with Leo! Basically, it is allowed almost everywhere except under the rim, on all shuttles or in some buildings. The Grand Canyon kennel on the south rim has a doggy daycare if we want to go without him, and Yavapai Lodge, one of the hotels inside the park, has a pet-friendly room.

We visited during the week before school let out early in the morning and had a great time. By the time we were ready to leave the visitor center, the parking lot was full and very busy. We stayed at the Hyatt Place Page / Lake Powell in Page Arizona because we also wanted to see Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend in the area, and our original plan was to visit the North Side of the Grand Canyon, but we missed the opening. the date for a week, as the late winter snow kept that part of the park closed. This hotel is very nice! Super accommodated us with our dog, they charge $75 for pets and their policy says “2 dogs under 50 lbs.” but they were not only nice to Leo, they welcomed us and made us feel like special guests. They gave us welcome gifts and toys for Leo and for us too! Leo was allowed to join us on the patio so we could enjoy a drink watching the sunset where the hotel is perfectly situated.

We were also surprised to find The Page Rim Trail right past the hotel! So we can walk a 10 kilometer route every morning and evening without even getting into the car. Be sure to check back for the next post which will cover some of the other adventures we had exploring this area with Leo.

We really liked this park! this
