The beach days of summer may be over, but October is the perfect time to bring your dog to the beach. Cooler weather is good for dogs who can burn their feet from the hot sand in the summer or get dehydrated from the lack of shade. Dogs are welcome on many beaches, which are usually closed in high season, and some beaches allow dogs off-leash. Best Dog Friendly Beaches On The East Coast
In summer it is known as a party beach, but in the off-season it is quiet and dog-friendly. From September 16th to May 14th, dogs can stay off all day. The only problem is that you have to get a Dewey Dog license from the town hall. We offer 3-day, 8-day and lifetime licenses. A kiosk outside the town hall is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and sells three-day and eight-day permits. The beach is approximately 1 kilometer long and has toilets.

Main Beach, known as one of the best beaches in the Hamptons, allows dogs off leash from October 1st through the second Saturday in May. If your dog is within 300 meters of the road, it must be on a leash to prevent accidents and injuries. East Hampton has about five other beaches where dogs can run free, even in the off-season.
The Jersey Shore is not known for its dog-friendly beaches. In most cases, dogs are not allowed in the summer and dogs are rarely allowed in the fall. However, Asbury Park has two options this offseason. Bradley Beach is just south of Asbury Park and allows dogs off leash from September 16th to April 20th. It’s a quieter beach than other beaches near Asbury, but it’s clean, nice, and parking is cheap. 8th Avenue Dog Beach is one of the NJ beaches that allows dogs in the summer, but only from 6:00pm to 8:30am. Starting October 1, they can be dropped on trails and beaches when they are released. Crowds will be reduced and you and your pup can run an incredible social distance.
St. Simons Island is part of a barrier island off the coast of Georgia. St. Simons has dog-friendly beaches on the south side, and dogs are allowed on most beaches during limited summer hours. Between Labor Day and Memorial Day, including East Beach and Massengale Park, there are several beaches where dogs can be off-leash and on voice command all day.
The 1,136-acre Fort De Soto Park is dog-friendly with grassy and wooded trails. In 2009 TripAdvisor named this beach as “Best Beach”. Dogs can only enjoy the beach on the paw play area and are allowed on leashes all year round. There are two fenced areas on the nearby beach where dogs can play. Showers are provided to give your dog some water after a fun day at the park. A poop bag is also provided.

Topsail Island, in the Northern Parallel Islands, has a village and beach called Topsail Beach. From October 1, dogs can run on leashes along the entire 26 kilometers of beach. Keep an eye out for sea turtles as there are many hatcheries along the beach. The town of Topsail Beach itself is quaint, with fewer than 500 residents and plenty of shops to wander around.

The Best Dog-friendly Beaches In North Cornwall
Along the Jersey Shore there are ten miles of white sand beaches and coastal dunes between the Atlantic Ocean and Barnegat Bay. It is one of the last undeveloped barriers on the North Atlantic coast. Leashed dogs are allowed year-round south of Sea Lake. There are eight trails (seven dogs are allowed) to explore on foot, bike or horseback from October to April.
Pets must be on a 6-foot leash at Fort De Soto Park, but the dog park, Paw Playground, also has space for dogs to run free. The playground is open daily from 07:00 to sunset. There’s also a private, fenced-in beach with separate areas for small and large dogs, showers and dog-height fountains.
North Carolina’s Crystal Coast has many dog-friendly beaches, including Emerald Isle, Indian, Pine Knoll Shores, and Atlantic Beach. Atlantic Beach’s lifeguard area is limited to 20 feet from the water, so canine companions are welcome year-round. Dog Friendly Beaches In South Devon
Dogs are allowed as long as they are under voice command, but owners must also wear a leash. Take a tour through the wind tunnel under 200 feet of sand dunes.
Florida’s Gulf Coast is a great place to enjoy white sand beaches and sparkling emerald waters with your dog. Dog Beach stretches 400 feet along the Panama City Beach shoreline.
Dogs especially enjoy walking along the shore at low tide, where they gently splash in the waves. The beach is open to dogs year-round, but a leash is required from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
