Dog-friendly Vacation Resorts – As an avid traveler, I have always appreciated the convenience and affordability of all-inclusive resorts for our family. With all meals and activities included, all-inclusive holidays take the unpredictability of a la carte dining, activities and hidden costs out of your bill. Since I love taking our four-legged family members on family vacations, if I find an all-inclusive property that includes pets, I’ll probably come back again – as many pet-friendly properties have. Dog-friendly Vacation Resorts
Located in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos is a pet-friendly property that allows two small pets (cat or dog) up to 50 pounds per room as part of the resort chain’s beloved Unleashed program. For a fee of $150 per pet, you can expect amenities including plush dog beds, a welcome treat for your pet, and certain areas of the resort that are open and accessible to pets. It is also nice to take your dog for a walk on the beach.

The pet-friendly, all-inclusive hotel is about 20 minutes from Cabo San Lucas International Airport and features six outdoor pools, a kids’ club, a bowling alley and an award-winning spa. Modern rooms and suites feature luxurious Egyptian cotton linens, spacious bathrooms with double robes and flat-screen TVs. Room patios encourage outdoor living with lounge chairs and dining areas where you can spend time with your pets.
Cabo San Lucas is known for its nightlife, but I love that it’s also a very walkable town with plenty of dog-friendly spots. Walk along the beach and be sure to stop by the Marina Mercado where you will find local artisans selling handmade crafts. You can also spend the morning on the Buccaneer Los Cabos Pirate Cruise, where you can learn about maritime history and spot some whales. I personally love the morning snorkeling trip, where breakfast of eggs and pancakes is served on the boat and I admire the beautiful view of the Sea of Cortez.
Other Hard Rock properties with pet-friendly rooms and amenities include locations in Tampa, Orlando, Daytona Beach, Sioux City and Lake Tahoe.
Zoëtry Montego Bay, an all-inclusive Hyatt resort, allows small dogs up to 22 pounds for $75. This popular location in Jamaica offers food bowls, treats, toys and luxurious bedding for your dog. At press time, it is also the only all-inclusive resort in Jamaica that allows pets. This is especially important because many of Jamaica’s most beautiful beaches are dog-friendly.
Traveling With Pets
There is a luxurious full-service spa and many activities such as kayaking, deep sea fishing and scuba diving. There are also five restaurants, many of which offer fun dining with your dog. We recommend brunching outside with your pets at Coyaba. One of my favorite memories at this pet-friendly all-inclusive resort was dining and people-watching with my pup.
If you’re into golf, head to Cinnamon Hill Golf Club for a round or two. Work with the hotel concierge to arrange a visit to Montpellier Estate, an estate dating back to the early 18th century. The property offers hiking, ziplining and even tubing on the Grand River.
TradeWinds Island GrandBeach Resort and neighboring RumFish Beach Resort are located directly on St.PeteBeach and allow two pets (up to 80 pounds) for a $30 nightly fee. The two-story beach resort offers brightly colored rooms with traditional Western Indian furnishings and modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs, refrigerators, microwaves, and coffee makers. In addition to the kitchen, the suites have a separate sitting area. All hotel rooms and villas at both resorts are pet-friendly.
At TradeWinds Island GrandResort, pups can enjoy some lazy time in the Pet Play Zone, a large grassy area with a drinking fountain and faux fire hydrant. The property also has a dedicated dog walk along the winding water and a dog shop that sells essentials such as treats, towels and toys that you can leave at home. While Rumfish Beach Resort doesn’t have the bells and whistles of Island Grand’s pet play area, it does have a dog walk. Many resort restaurants are also dog-friendly.

When you’re out and about, head to the newly opened Mutts and Martinis in St. Petersburg. Petersburg, a sports bar where dogs of all sizes are welcome. There’s even a dog pad for those hot Florida nights.
You can bring one dog under 22 pounds for $65 at the adults-only, pet-friendly all-inclusive Breathless Punta Cana. Fido is warmly welcomed with food and water bowls, dog beds, toys and treats. With 10 restaurants, eight bars, a casino and four pools, this stylish Caribbean property will show your dog all the stops here, which is one of the reasons I love visiting with my pet.
