I didn’t think there was anything to be excluded. The weather was hot. like many people. Well, after a little searching, we found some great jobs across the state. In this post, I’ve rounded up the best things for dogs in Texas and organized them for you to make your own.

This 3.5 mile trail is not your typical trail as it is located in the heart of the city. But, it’s perfect for a brisk walk, bike ride, or roller coaster with your dog. The Katy Trail Ice House is located along the trail where you can stop and enjoy a cold margarita and dinner on their large outdoor patio. This is my favorite restaurant in all of Dallas!

Let’s take a tour is an exciting (and affordable) way to see and learn more about Dallas. They offer 4 different self-guided tours ranging from .5 miles to 2 miles. Each tour can be easily tracked through its attractive app. They give you interesting facts and turn the tour into an interactive game! It can be a great date night or a competition against teams!

While you won’t find a scenic drive in Dallas, Cedar Hill Nature Center is a great place to be. Located less than 20 minutes from downtown, you’ll find 600 acres and over 9 miles of trails. This is a great place to watch butterflies, birds or have a picnic after your hike. It is a non-profit organization and makes money from donations!

When you’re done strolling downtown Grapevine’s charming streets and window shopping, take your pup to the lake for a swim.

Grab your pup, rent a paddleboard with Backwoods Paddle Sports, and hit the Trinity River. You’ll be in the middle of Fort Worth, with views of the city all around you. After the rental, the staff will explain the different route options and you will be on your way.

They also rent kayaks (single and tandem) and canoes, or you can bring your own canoe for a trip to Panther Island.

Note: All dogs must wear life jackets. If you don’t have one, you can rent it for just $5.00!

Fort Worth Stockyards is definitely one of my favorite places in the DFW metroplex. When you think of Texas, you automatically think of longhorns, cowboys, rodeos and country music… Stockyards gives you just that.

You and your dog can enjoy the daily livestock races (11pm and 4pm), window shopping, people watching and barbecues.

Cost: Walking the streets is free, but you have to pay for parking and additional activities.

This was really the first stop that changed my opinion about Texas. After walking miles across the plain, you’ll be surprised to see the second largest canyon in the United States. I recommend taking the lighthouse tour here as you will be amazed by the natural rock formations. This is a super easy and totally dog ​​friendly adventure!

Tip: While I wouldn’t recommend this hike in the summer due to the extreme heat, Texas can be hot year-round. Make sure you fill your day pack with a water bladder!

A very unique and dog-friendly way to add to your West Texas bucket list. Located in the foothills, this 1.8 mile hike takes you up a hill to an old school desk…I know…strange…but unique. The path is right next to the college and years ago some college students moved their desks up and now this is the end point of their walk. There is also a bicycle tree near the table.

Apart from the odd tree-top bikes and tables, you’ll also find stunning 360° views of the city. This is a great quick hike to do at sunrise or sunset!

Top 10 Dog-friendly Beaches In Galveston, Tx In 2024

Although the neighboring national park does not allow dogs, the state park does. (I say it’s even more amazing because you can enjoy it with your pup!) There are three dog-friendly trails and plenty of amazing viewpoints to stop at during your trip.

Located just outside of Big Bend Ranch State Park, you’ll find the remains of an old mining town. You can tour the cemetery, visit the old prison and see other ruins. There is a gift shop and several restaurants to explore after your tour.

Although Terlingua has many unique stays to choose from, I recommend staying in the village of Ocotillos. These cozy glamping tents offer the best stargazing through plexiglass roofs.

If you’ve spent any time on Instagram, you’ve probably seen this unique roadside attraction. While there isn’t much to do here, it’s a great photo op.

Did you know there are sand dunes in Texas? They are very hidden but make a great stop on the way to Big Bend. Rent a sled from the gift shop and spend the day riding around the lakes!

Located in downtown Austin, you and your child can explore a variety of theme parks. The parks are open from 9am to 6pm, but tickets must be reserved online in advance.

Just 13 miles from the state Capitol, you and your dog can swim, hike and/or camp at one of 81 campgrounds.

Hike to Austin’s highest point for beautiful views of the Colorado River, Austin, and the Texas Hill Country. Although Mount Bonnell rises 775 feet above town, it’s a quick 0.5 mile (RT) climb. It’s a great place to have a picnic or watch the sunset.

You and your pup can join us on a scary tour of Austin. During the ghost tour, you will walk around the town for about 90 minutes and listen to spooky stories. Austin walking tours also include morning walks, killer walks, and private tours.

Who doesn’t love a fun miniature golf course? And it’s dog-friendly, which makes it 100 times better! You can also bring your own cooler with breakfast/lunch and drinks!
