Even though we’re taking a break from big international travel during the pandemic, we’ve been enjoying exploring the Seattle area and all the amazing (and dog-friendly!) weekend getaways. Walla Walla is one of the best wine regions in the country, with over 120 wineries, and I honestly can’t think of a better place to spend a few days. I’ve been bookmarking this modern downtown hotel for a while because it looks like a great base camp for a snow weekend or a wine weekend. Or both! Great American Vacation Beaches
We’ve written in the past about how much we love Getaway Tiny Homes and are looking for a new location in the Skagit Valley. It’s a great way to escape into nature when it’s hot and dry. And how wonderful is this designer bed window? Dogs are allowed for an additional fee – more information here.
Honestly, Coho Oceanfront stole my heart with these beach openings. Although this Oregon Coast cabin is a short drive from Seattle, its beautiful modern interior and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean are worth the trip. Dogs under 25 kg are accepted in some rooms – more information here.
My New Year’s resolution is to book a night at my dream St. Edward’s Lodge, this should be easy as the town is only a half hour drive away. This historic seminary has been restored to become a luxurious and elegant venue nestled on 326 acres of trails on the shores of Lake Washington. In 2020 month of January. we had a great weekend at the Lodges on Vashon and wrote about it here – and the memories got me through the first few months. I’ve dreamed of being in one of those Insta-famous A-frames for too long, and I’m determined to make it happen this year. Tye River Cabin Company. Offering three different types of stunning A-frame cabins located on Mt. In the heart of the Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, all three allow pets for a fee. In 2019 we spent a wonderful Easter weekend in Semiahmoo and I was looking for an opportunity to return to its beautiful views and secluded beach that Lizzie loved. Just steps from the Canadian border, this peaceful resort is the perfect place for great hikes and beautiful coastal views in Northern Washington. They are extremely dog friendly and puppies are welcome with their own bowls, bed and (at least on our visit) a souvenir. Dog information here.

OK, it’s not technically available yet, but we’ve signed up to receive notifications to get a reservation as soon as these awesome trailers are released in Olympic National Park. They provide comfort for animals beyond the usual camping, but also provide a safe and sustainable way to get out into nature. I’m obsessed with the beautiful new Water’s Edge Suites at this historic Orcas Island inn, featuring private balconies overlooking the bay. I can already see myself curled up there with a book. If you haven’t heard of Tentrr, you’re missing out. We stayed with them twice (in Vermont and on the Maine trip we wrote about here) and each trip was wonderful. Basically, they build luxury safari tents on exclusive private land, like this beautiful fruit farm near Mead, Washington. Idaho may be a short distance from Seattle, but we would travel almost any distance to stay at this spacious lookout. Plus, little things like the sauna and the antique coffee grinder really melt my heart. Pets are allowed, but with stair entry you may need to decide if this will make for a fun vacation.
