Top 10: Dog-friendly Hotels In The Uk

In addition to rave reviews (each with four out of five stars or more) overall, all of the following hotels welcome dogs. There are country retreats like Elsewhere in the Lake District, recommending dog-friendly walks on the doorstep, but we also have city accommodation, including a rare pet-friendly hotel in central London.

We have completed hotel stays including in the last two years. Prices are for Saturday evening (peak price) and correct at time of publication. All scores are out of five.

A week before we visited another place they asked us to make a reservation for breakfast and download an app to ‘plan our trip’. The long list on the blackboard in the gleaming white lobby of the Georgian House confirms the feeling that this hotel is for those who want to make the most of their time in this beautiful part of the world. There are walks, kayaking, stargazing and other ways to enjoy beautiful Ullswater. But if you won’t predict when you want your meat and eggs a month before you wake up, you’ll still have a wonderful time here.

We love the living and dining room with its stylish contemporary pine floors and large windows that let the Lake District come to you. Even better is the pool where you can swim far facing the hills on the other side of the lake. The library, lit by French doors, is another temptation to just sit instead of going for a healthy walk. Friendly and relaxed service against pre-booking. We didn’t check the app once and no one seemed to notice that we didn’t arrive for breakfast on time.

10 Best Dog-friendly Hotels In Brighton Uk: A Pet Owner’s Guide

Room: Our advice? The ‘standard room’ is small and basic for the price. Spend an extra £20 or more for a larger ‘superior room’ with a freestanding bath and either a bay window or French doors with access to the garden, a lovely chaise longue. There are designated dog-friendly rooms, and you can also bring your dog into most, but not all, public areas.

Food and Drink: We chose to eat at Living Space rather than Rampsback – the official restaurant. Many vegan options pass the what-you-order test even if they’re not vegan, especially the plant-based “meatballs” in a zingy teriyaki sauce.

Our Verdict: We’re glad we never left—a compliment when you consider the beautiful scenery at this hotel’s doorstep.

Langham Village is a mile inland from Morriston Quay with sailing tours, salt marshes and wide skies. It has a church, a village school and, from 2021, a luxury boutique hotel. Not that Harper’s, with its friendly, unassuming service, feels out of place. This former glass factory has been converted into a low-rise complex surrounded by solar farms with olive trees, rusty chimneys and decorative lights. Beyond The Yard is an indoor swimming pool and hot tub, a stylish bar area and several comfortable lounges where you can relax with a drink from the wine vending machine.

The Best Dog-friendly Hotels In London

Rooms: The smallest of the hotel’s 32 rooms, measuring 280 square feet, is classed as ‘Large’ (the others are ‘Large’ and ‘Large’). All have four-poster beds, luxurious bathrooms with monsoon showers and complimentary Negroni’s in the minibar. There is a charge of £25 for dogs, with bedding and towels.

Food and Drink: Delicious local produce is everywhere. Fresh North Sea prawns caught over charcoal at The Yard, Norfolk pancetta mac and cheese from the bar and tandoori monkfish at the Stanley Restaurant. Even better, you can eat wherever and whenever you want. Make sure you don’t miss the freshly cooked free breakfast at 18.00 – meatballs with chutney sauce on our tour.

Our Verdict: Think spacious yet intimate, food yet exotic, cozy yet exclusive: Harper got her recipe just right.

This Dartmoor hotel was once the envied country retreat of the Duke and Duchess of Bedford, who enlisted the help of landscape designer Humphrey Repton to transform its grounds in 1814. Now part of the Pollazi Collection, both the Grade I-listed house and the surrounding gardens are stunning . Draw a map and explore the 108 acres – you’ll find follies, caves, waterfalls and arboretums, as well as archways and rose-scented walks overlooking the Tamar River.

6 Dog Friendly Hotels In The Uk For A Pawfect Stay

Rooms: All 19 rooms have been beautifully designed by Olaga Polizzi, and many have retained period features – we love the fire bucket and hose rail on the upstairs landing. Our stunning double room (room 16), with botanical paintings and a roll-top bath (not all rooms have a separate shower), had views of the stables and bell tower. For the best garden view, choose one of the Repton rooms. The original hand-painted wallpaper is still on display in the Bedford Rooms. A two-night stay is usually required. There is a £20 charge for dogs and there are restrictions on where they are allowed in public areas. However, they offer to take your dog for a walk while you eat.

Food and drink: Game, duck breast and turbot with seaweed black beer are among the main dishes on our three-course dinner menu (£67.50), although many visit just for the garden and cream tea (£35).

Close to Loch Fyne, this cozy inn has been owned by the Clarke family since 1860 and during our visit, Chris, now at the helm, chatted with locals, overnight guests and four Australians visiting Anurai’s neo-Gothic castle. . A former inn, the George has an atmospheric cocktail bar which is the main dining room – it still has the original 18th-century stone walls and tiled floor, as well as benches and an open fireplace. Food is also served in the bright, modern conservatory.

Rooms: The 18 bedrooms in the main house are accessed by winding wire-carpeted staircases and creaking corridors filled with antiques and oil paintings. Our standard room has a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower and two cushioned chairs in the “chit-chit corner”. Book the Merchant Suite for a refreshing spa bath, twin rain showers and wood stove. There is no extra charge for dogs and they are allowed in restaurants and bars.

Best Dog-friendly Hotel In Devon

Food and drink: Food is served from midday and includes haggis, naps and tatties (£12), a seafood selection with Loch Fyne salmon (£16) and fried scallops (£18). Enjoy an evening drink too – if you’re not sure which whiskey to order (there are 400 to choose from), the knowledgeable bar staff are only too happy to help you find your favourite.

Shoreditch is a byword for hipster clichés, and you’ll find every single one in OneHundred. There’s a workspace upstairs, a Peloton studio downstairs and a cocktail lounge in the basement where they mix your gin with dandelion leaves. But behind the scenes are 258 stylishly decorated rooms with comfortable beds just 15 minutes’ walk from town.

Rooms: In London, where hoteliers are happy to charge £200 for a windowless suite, a ‘studio’ room (the smallest) feels like a big deal. The effect is supported by neutral colors, wool cream carpets and thin dirt reduction. And with check-out time at noon and the blackout curtains drawn, the comfy bed is where you want to be. You need to book a specific dog-friendly room, although these vary, and most dogs are allowed, but not all public areas.

Food and drink: Something similar happens in the downstairs restaurant: a bistro-style light wood, copper rails and leather seating, with mains (such as Cornish fish stew and Gasson spelled risotto) coming in at under £20. As for Shoreditch, it’s incredible. Breakfast is sadly lacking – a full English and healthy selection is available but slow to replenish. Plus, it’s cheap when hotel guests get hot filter coffee while the barista whips up a thick flat white for strolling down the street.
