Corleston is another great option if you want to stay south of the tennis courts all year round and within a very reasonable distance of our Norfolk parks, particularly Hopton and Wild Duck, with all other areas available from 1 October to 30 April. One of the best dog-friendly beaches in Norfolk, it’s just south of Great Yarmouth but has all the charm and most of the amenities of its popular northern neighbour. Popular with dog walkers and young families, it’s patrolled by lifeguards in peak season, but during quieter periods there’s no restriction on where you can go, and the place really comes into its own. Parking is easy here and there are plenty of places to sit and relax while walking the two miles that make up the beach. Fish and chips are a popular choice in town, and many of the delicacies here are good throughout the day.

Corleston is another great option if you choose to stay within a more moderate distance of our Norfolk parks, particularly Hopton and Wild Duck. One of the best dog-friendly beaches in Norfolk, it’s just south of Great Yarmouth but has all the charm and most of the amenities of its popular northern neighbour.

This dog-friendly Norfolk beach gem is located where Norfolk’s east coast heads north. One of the most popular items on this list is dog walking with wonderful trails in both directions that give you fresh air and views of the North Sea. All the beaches in this area are grouped together, meaning you can explore them as long as you like.

Another less busy stretch of sand, Cart Gap, is accessible at the end of a single track surrounded by miles of farmland. You’ll see as many tractors as cars here, but there’s still a cute little cafe, with little sticks, a stone’s throw from the beach car park, perfect for a bite or two. This local legend allows you to sit outside and enjoy the surroundings with your dog when you’re full. A 40-minute drive from our Norfolk parks is scenic and well worth the drive.

Nearby Gard Cape offers a complete change of scenery with epic cliffs plunging down to the sands of Happisburgh (pronounced ‘Hays-bruch’) in this part of Norfolk. The sand, formed by coastal erosion, is calm even during busy times and is an alternative to other beaches in the region.

You’ll notice the 18th-century lighthouse, which has played many important roles over the years and is thought to be England’s oldest working lighthouse. You can climb almost 100 steps and get a wonderful view of the sandy and quaint village. The settlement is a real Norfolk beauty, with all the cool stuff like the Hill House Inn pub, church and cricket club.

One of England’s best Blue Flag beaches, let alone Norfolk, is just north of the north coast town of Holcombe, Wells-upon-Sea. The geography here is unique and beautiful, and the coast is separated from the city by a beautiful body of water that flows directly from the North Sea to the south of this great natural beauty on the Norfolk coast. It may be one of the longest journeys from Norfolk’s parks, but the extra effort is well worth it, especially if you’re taking your dog!

Strolling through this relatively pristine paradise, vast expanses of golden sand come to life, and at low tide the expanse is almost as wide. Even during the busiest periods, you’re guaranteed a place to relax here, and all the city’s amenities are only a 20-minute walk or short bike ride away, and there’s plenty to drink. The beach has featured in popular shows like Eagle Landing and The Avengers, so don’t be surprised if some of the spots look familiar.

Hunstanton is unique in terms of Norfolk beaches. The only major town with a west-facing coast, it has long attracted dog-walkers, day-trippers and day-trippers, with fantastic access to sandy and pebbly beaches that reveal the nearby Lincolnshire countryside in the distance. The resort was established in 1846 as a tourist inn and has 19th century character, making it a very popular retreat at the time. This popularity continues to this day, thanks to the vast facilities and beautiful scenery that create an amazing experience for visitors.

The sunsets here are particularly spectacular given the coastal location, and this unique position in Norfolk is illustrated by the white chalk and limestone cliffs surrounding the coast. Taking less than two hours, Hunstanton may be one of the longest trips from our parks, but it’s more than worth your time.
