A fun activity in Loo is to enjoy a fishing trip by boat from the port. Ever since I was a child I have occasionally taken part in mackerel and saltwater fishing holidays in Devon and Cornwall. I have also gone on long saltwater fishing trips with friends. Most memorable from Ilfracombe in North Devon.
Anyway, I saw signs for mackerel fishing in Looe harbour. While in Cornwall I decided the dog needed his first saltwater fishing trip. He had been on a boat before and was a good hiker, so he knew that as long as the dog and guardian remained safely on the boat, he would be okay.
I got a number to book the trip from Loo Harbor notice board. I chose Emma Louise’s boat because they were the first to answer the phone. The ship Emma Louise had advertised a 2 hour trip with Dave and all handling was included at a time convenient for me.
Booking was painless. We select the time and date from the available fields and leave our name. That’s all, everything is already booked. Before departure, they were asked to meet at the signal. The tour costs £20 per person and dogs are free. This is paid on the boat.

Mackerel fishing was a fun day from start to finish and I would recommend it to anyone who has never fished before. Even if you don’t want to go inside, there are spectacular views from the boat. Fresh fish is also really delicious to cook later.
