Here are just a few of our favorite dog-friendly beaches in Dorset. Go paddling or playing in the sand with your four-legged friend before heading back to the dog-friendly caravan park!
Swanage Beach is our nearest beach, just a 20 minute walk from the park. It has won many awards for its clear water and has many family-friendly facilities to keep the little ones happy. Dogs are welcome at Swanage Central Beach from 1am
Other times every April, visitors with dogs should visit the nearby ‘Monkey Beach’, on a stone quay near the pier.
90+ Campsites On The Jurassic Coast
Durdle Gate is one of Dorset’s most famous natural monuments. Thousands of visitors flock to this part of the Jurassic Coast to photograph the world-famous limestone arch. The beach is stunning with stunning turquoise waters and distant views of the Isle of Portland.
Both beaches here are off limits and dogs are welcome all year round. The path from the parking lot to the beach is steep and involves many steps, so it may not be suitable for large dogs. Dogs must be on a leash as the trail runs parallel to the cliffs. In summer this beach is very busy. So keep this in mind if your dog becomes overwhelmed quickly.
Facilities: There are no facilities on the beach. At the top of the hill is a small kiosk that often serves drinks.
Lulworth Cove is about half an hour’s drive from Durdle Gate. This horseshoe-shaped beach is geologically interesting and popular with families because of its many services. Like the neighboring beaches, dogs are welcome all year round. The sheltered waters invite you to swim and splash in the waves.

Ringsted Bay is a pebble beach popular with local families. It is very remote and is located on a beautiful single lane road that leads to a small car park with shops and takeaways. The beach offers stunning views over Weymouth Bay and the Jurassic Coast. Its clear waters and gentle waves make it a popular spot for kayakers, paddleboarders and snorkelers.
This quiet beach is dog-friendly all year round and there are beautiful walks that can enhance your trip. One of our favorites is Osmington Mills, where you can grab a bite to eat and enjoy a well-deserved drink at the Smugglers Inn.

The Jurassic Coast
Studland is only a short walk from Ulwell Holiday Park, making it a favorite with our guests. It is suitable for dogs all year round, but dogs between 1 and 2 years of age should stay 2 meters away.
The beach has wide stretches of golden sand surrounded by sand dunes and heather. Water bowls are available at Knoll Beach, Middle Beach and South Beach and the outdoor seating area at the National Trust’s Knoll Beach Cafe is dog-friendly. You can go to Old Harry Rocks from the beach.
Kimmeridge is a little different from the other dog-friendly beaches on this list. There are rocky outcrops and hundreds of rock pools out of the sea. There are dog friendly restrooms and a very interesting visitor center. Dogs are welcome all year round and can be walked above.
We believe the Kimmeridge is one of the best fossil hunting sites on the Jurassic Coast, but be sure to familiarize yourself with best practices before your visit. The clear water is great for snorkeling and there is a marked trail. In recent years it has gained a reputation as a good beach destination.
Dog Friendly Yorkshire
Worbarrow Bay is one of our favorite dog-friendly beaches on the Isle of Purbeck. It is at the end of a 1.6 kilometer road that crosses the Ministry of Defense compound. At the start of the walk you will pass the village of Tyneham. Abandoned during World War II, this village remains largely untouched and open to visitors.
Shingle Beach is dog friendly year round. It’s busier than other beaches on the Jurassic Coast, but just as beautiful. There are no amenities, so we recommend bringing picnics and activities to keep everyone entertained.
