Just got into blogging this summer, but when I saw all the vacation-focused questions, I couldn’t help myself! I love everything about vacations – planning, packing, visiting new places, exploring or relaxing, eating new foods, spending time with family and even reading about other people’s vacations.

Here are the questions for the 10th of this month and I’m repeating stuff from other blog posts, I hope you don’t mind too much.
1. Are you planning to go on vacation soon? Please share! Yes, we actually have 3 trips planned this summer! My husband and I left for New Hampshire on Friday morning, and the kids were holding down the fort at home. Then, in July, we go to the Great Smoky Mountains for a vacation with my sister and her family. Then, before school starts, we finally get to use our Disney/Universal tickets 2020.
2. Have you been on holiday recently? Please tell us about it. Our last vacation was last October when my husband and I took a quick weekend trip to New Hampshire.
3. What is your favorite way to travel? I don’t think I really have that… I like to feel like we have more control over our schedule when we drive, but also like the convenience of flying. To be honest, I don’t enjoy the travel part of a vacation at all. I usually feel stressed until we reach our final destination and settle down.

4. Where would you go if money was no object? why Oh, it’s so hard… I have a lot of places on my dream list, but definitely somewhere tropical, like Bora Bora in Hawaii, Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. I love the calm turquoise water and palm trees!
5. Who is your favorite person to vacation with (living or dead)? It’s easy! my husband No matter how old (or young!) our kids are, we’re lucky we have some amazing weekend getaways too. (Read about some of our favorite weekend getaways here)
Although my family – meaning my children, my mother-in-law, my mother and sister – is easily at the top of my list as well. In fact, I’m thinking of planning a weekend with my mom and sister this fall.
6. What should you definitely take with you when you go on vacation? Since clothing varies by season and destination, I carry a few things with me, like my camera, a few books (or a Kindle full of books), travel, and my sunglasses.

7. What are some of your favorite vacation memories? I don’t think I can narrow it down to an all-time favorite holiday! It is very difficult. I have so many wonderful vacation memories in my life. I even wrote an article summarizing all the travels my husband and I have taken since 1994! (You can read the post here)
8. Where do you never go on vacation? why Well…Antarctica is too cold to put on my vacation list…but other than that, I think travel destinations vary depending on my mood and the type of vacation I want. Sometimes I want to sit by the pool or the ocean and relax and sometimes I want to hike and explore.
9. What’s the worst thing that ever happened to you on vacation? When Ian was a little over a year old and I was pregnant with Alec, we took Ian to New Hampshire for a quick little trip to Storyland and Santa’s Village. During our trip he became ill and had his first seizure. When he started crawling into the car seat and drooling in his mouth, we had no idea what was going on and we panicked. Luckily the ER nurse made the right diagnosis right away and I remember my mother-in-law warning me that her family had a long history, so we knew we could calm down, but it was definitely one of the worst moments I could have done. I remember when I was on vacation.
10. What is the best thing that happened to you on vacation? My husband and I got engaged over the holidays, so I had to accept it.

Do you remember the Friday night TGIF lineup? I remember planning sleepovers and spending time with friends around the TV lineup of our favorite shows, or setting up the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren’t home. I have had so many favorites over the years! Growing Pains came out in 1985 when I was 8 and continued to air until I was 15. I’m sure a lot of people my age would mainly watch Kirk Cameron and all his antics. I still have a soft spot for family sitcoms! “The Facts of Life” came on when I was two and ran until I was 11, so I’m sure the episodes I missed the most were some later episodes or later reruns.
