This guide is designed to give you an idea of the food you can expect when visiting Mumbles and Gower. This review is based on our recent experience. We are always looking for new opportunities to bring Buddy to new restaurants.

Quiet and secluded, The New Gower Hotel offers pet-friendly accommodation and dogs are allowed in the pub where food is served. Dogs are also welcome in the restaurant’s courtyard, which can be especially nice in the summer months. There are a variety of options available and they also offer afternoon tea – this must be booked in advance. You can walk from the hotel on the edge of the valley to Pwll Du beach. It takes about 50 minutes one way, or you can return to the cliff and via Bishopston.

Three Cliffs Coffee Cafe is known for its delicious homemade food, especially its delicious cakes. They welcome dogs and have a special area on the first floor where pet owners can enjoy a meal together. The cafe is located just a short walk from the beautiful South Gower Cliffs.

A 30 minute walk west you can see Pobbles Bay and Three Cliffs Bay. In the opposite direction, it will take you 40 minutes to reach Pwll Du. These beaches are dog friendly all year round, but in the summer it can get very hot and there isn’t much shade for dogs. It is important for the dog to lead because there are sheep, cows and horses in the area.

If you’re looking for local gifts and souvenirs, Pennard Stores offers a wide selection. They have a lot of local and Welsh themed products. The store just felt like a gourmet restaurant. This is a great choice whether you are local or visiting the area. There is free parking available outside the shop, but there is also a National Trust car park across the road.

There are clear signs, both visible and real, that this is one of the friendliest pubs in Gower. There was a jar of dog biscuits behind the bar and the waiters quickly brought out all the dogs that came that day, ……and there were a lot of them! Our canine friends were also served on the main menu…sausage and ice cream. This is a popular place for dog owners. The balcony was busy, with dog owners outnumbering residents by a ratio of 2:1.

We sampled the food, between us we chose the pea and mint soup with a lot of bread, the brie and cranberry baguette, and the famous King’s Head Burger. We all enjoyed our lunch, the soup was fresh and tasty and the bread was freshly baked. I doubt the burger was bought locally and served with pickles, relish and triple-baked chips.

There is plenty of beer on tap and bottles of Gower Gold in the fridge. When it’s busy, Mafumu has a great atmosphere and the location is inspiring, overlooking the Norman church next to PJ’s Surf shop. In the distance are Rhossili Downs and a view of Rhossili Bay. The pub has retained its character, with major changes over the years to improve the visitor experience, including a cabin-like seating area at the back. A popular summer and winter destination.

Britannia Inn is popularly known as ‘The Brit’ and has a great reputation for local cuisine. This is a country pub with a relaxed atmosphere. The brewery overlooks the salt marshes of North Gower, famous for its unique taste fed to local sheep. Dogs are allowed in the bar and garden. There are many tables sheltered from the hot summer sun. You can find a number of local tours, including a three-hour walk to Whiteford Lighthouse (featured in our guide). Inside the pub you will find a beautiful and unique fireplace with a wood burning stove to warm your feet. Whatever the season, the 17th century bar has a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere with low ceilings, old tiled staircases, exposed stone walls and antique wooden tables and chairs. Some parts of the place also retain the original bread oven and old gas lamps, which add to its period charm.

The site is said to have originated from shipwrecks that were salvaged and brought ashore by destroyers to retrieve their valuable cargo. Despite its troubled past, unlike Llanmadoc’s treacherous history of crafty sailors pulling ashore, this pub is now a place that at once embraces and comforts weary travellers. In the bar you can enjoy a variety of drinks such as real ale, premium ale, beer and cider, as well as other options you would expect. The bar offers a wide menu, including a special table and a variety of options.

In addition, there is a restaurant (no dogs allowed) that offers special menus, special boards and a la carte on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. On Sundays, they do a Sunday roast and serve local delicacies such as Gower Salt Marsh Lamb, Selwyn seaweed, Swansea smoked salmon and Gower gold Ale.

Located in the heart of Gower, Welcome has a warm and friendly atmosphere. This is a country pub that is popular with locals and tourists alike. Dogs are welcome in the downstairs bar. The evening we visited the bar was busy, but there were almost as many dogs as customers. The service is excellent and the food in the bar is delicious, there is a variety of specials and the regular menu offers tapas, pasta and pizza as well as the usual dishes. There is a restaurant on the first floor, but dogs are not allowed. Dog biscuits are available in the bar, and there are tables outside in good weather.

Brasserie Langland has a great location, close to the beach in Langland. Although dogs are not allowed inside, there is a large terrace outside with spectacular views of the beach. Half of the outdoor area is clear for dogs and owners. Open from morning to night, this is the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful view while enjoying drinks, snacks or a full meal. Warm blankets are available in winter. Staff welcome the dogs and give them treats. Water bowls are placed on the floor and staff are happy to fill them with fresh water if you have a fussy dog like us, who only drinks water that has not been touched by another dog. The food, drinks, service and atmosphere at Langlands Brasserie are excellent.

Please note that although dogs are allowed all year round on the grounds of Brasserie Langland, the beach itself is not allowed for dogs during the summer months. We spend a lot of time at Langlands Brasserie in late autumn and spring, but it’s difficult for us in summer because Buddy doesn’t understand why he suddenly can’t run on his favorite beach, even if he’s only a few meters away. . This may not be a problem for visitors whose dogs are not familiar with the beach and want to let loose, rather than waiting patiently to hit the sand. Instead of the beach, there is a beautiful walk from Langland to Caswell, which takes about 25 minutes, so allow an hour for the return trip. Dogs must be kept on a leash because this route is popular with runners!

Surfside Cafe is a year-round favorite for dog owners. They always welcome dogs and celebrate with enthusiasm on October 1 when the dog ban is lifted. The menu is cafe style and includes breakfast, toasted sandwiches and burgers. Side salads and couscous are always delicious! Ice cream, coffee and cookies are available. If you want a change, try the London Fog and Chai Latte. Four large but comfortable and dog friendly bedrooms in Gower cottages
