Some people stay in the Old Mill District when they visit Bend, but to be 100% honest, I usually stay just outside the main downtown area. Why? Because it is quieter. My children and my dog, which is the best environment for me to hear the strange sounds outside.
So I wanted a Bend hotel outside of the central business district. The Riverhouse on the Deschutes is a 5-minute drive or 15-minute bus ride from downtown Bend, making it very convenient to the city’s restaurants and fun things to do; But it is enough for peace and quiet.

Finn and my girls were so excited when we arrived. They are all our ground floor, They get the job of exploring the river view room. I was pleased that this pet-friendly hotel room had enough space for my two children and our medium-sized dog. One of my dog’s favorite parts of this pet-friendly hotel in Bend: the large sliding glass door. He likes to sit on the dog bed and look at everything outside. Well, he didn’t.
It was downstairs with a big sliding glass door so it wasn’t easy for my girls and Finn to get out. What we did was get out and find ourselves on a well-maintained road next to the Deschutes River.
Finn dragged me around with a sniff. She and my girls were running along the path that led to the big rocks by the river. With its wild flowers and flowing water, you feel like you are in a small space outside the hotel.
