Most trails in Banff National Park accept dogs on leashes. Dogs are allowed on all roads in the summer, unless restrictions and trail closures state otherwise. Check with Parks Canada to see if there are any restrictions on pets on the trail due to wildlife or natural hazards.

Banff has two off-leash dog parks. One in an industrial area on Hawk Ave. was laid, and Rd. complex, 2.8 km walking distance from the town of Banff. Another location is at the recreation area on Sundance Road near the Banff Trail Rider Stables, a 2 km walk from downtown Banff. Both areas are accessible by off-road vehicle and there is on-site parking.
