Best Pet Friendly Resorts In Washington State – There’s something about January that makes me want to sit down with a calendar and plan lots of trips for the coming year. It’s so cold and dark outside, it feels so satisfying to plug in the laptop and plot some adventures.

Even though we’ve put our major international travel on hold during the pandemic, we’ve loved re-discovering the Seattle area and all of its wonderful (and dog-friendly!) weekend getaways. After spending a decade in NYC and Chicago, it’s been great to come back and rediscover old favorites, as well as see the new resorts, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs that have popped up here. And most of all, I love seeing how many of them embrace dog-friendly options for your stay. I am so happy when we can bring Dave and Lizzie on our vacations.

Bring your best friend for some wine country magic at one of our personal favorite resorts in the area. We’ve been taking weekend getaways at Sagecliffe since 2015, and they never really disappoint. Honestly, Coho Oceanfront stole my heart with its oceanfront fireplace. Although this Oregon Coast lodge is a short drive from Seattle, its sleek-modern interior and beautiful views of the Pacific make it worth the drive. Dogs under 25 pounds are welcome in select rooms – details here.

My New Year’s resolution is to visit Fantasy Lodge in St. Louis as soon as possible. This historic seminary has been renovated into a beautiful and beautiful setting situated on 326 acres directly on Lake Washington. We had a great weekend at The Lodges on Vashon in January 2020 – and blogged about it here – and I reminisced during the first few months of lockdown. These design-forward 570-square-foot units offer amenities like private patios, fireplaces and soaking tubs. Plus, they’re the perfect base camp for exploring Vashon Island’s beautiful beaches and hikes. I’ve long dreamed of landing one of these Insta-famous A-frames, and I’m determined to make it happen this year. Tye River Cabin Co. Baker-Snoqualmie offers three separate A-frame cabins in the heart of the Mountain National Forest, and all three accept pets for a fee. A word to the wise though – it can be hard to get a reservation as each of their awesome Insta posts get thousands of likes. Pet information is listed under each cabin’s details.

We had a wonderful Easter weekend in Semiahmoo in 2019, and I look forward to returning to its beautiful scenery and remote beaches that Lizzie loved. Just a stone’s throw from the Canadian border, this pristine resort is the perfect base for Northern Washington’s great outdoors and incredible coastal views. They’re extremely dog-friendly, and pups are welcomed with a bowl, their own bed, and (at least during our visit) some souvenir swag. Dogs – details here.

Step back in time with a stay in one of these vintage trailers in Dayton, Oregon. The best part? Located in Willamette Wine Country. The trailer comes with coffee, luxury linens and fancy bathrooms. Dogs are allowed at Shasta Trailers, and they explain more details here.

Anacortes is one of my favorite trips out of town. Drive an hour and a half north of Seattle to this downtown beach town full of quaint shops, cozy cafes and waterfront views. I love a holiday of sorts, and Winthrop’s Rolling Huts certainly delivers. These tiny homes were designed by Seattle-based Olson Kundig Architects as a modern alternative to camping. Go for a hike or just relax and take in the stunning mountain views. Their Hotels.com listing has a pet policy listed under the “Fees and Policies” section.

This luxury resort on Hood Canal boasts that they’ve been hosting pups since 1913, and with a full menu of Fido-friendly amenities, we can count on it. Make memories by renting a kayak, hiking the trails, or simply enjoying the scenery. Read Dog Diets here.

Okay, so this isn’t technically available yet, but we’ve signed up for a notification to make another reservation for these awesome camping trailers in Olympic National Park. They offer more creature comforts than a standard camper while still providing a secluded and sustainable way to get out into nature. I was in awe of the wonderful new water’s edge suites in this historic Orcas Island neighborhood, with private balconies overlooking the bay. I can already see myself curled up there with a book. If you follow us on Instagram, you know that we make a quick trip to Seabrook every chance we get. This beautiful beach town on Washington’s stunning Pacific coast is literally everything I’m looking for in a vacation – a beautiful downtown with shops and restaurants, plenty of rental property options, and pristine, clean beaches. Dogs are welcome in many tenants.

With sweeping views of Lake Washington, The Woodmark offers a delightful escape just a quick trip outside of downtown Seattle. Explore downtown Kirkland’s shops and restaurants, hit the water or pamper yourself at the spa. Book a Woof, Wag and Worry Less package for your dog’s special bowl, bed and treats. If you haven’t heard of Tentrr yet, you’re missing out. We stayed with them twice (in Vermont and on a trip to Maine that we blogged about here ) and each trip was wonderful. Basically, they put up luxury safari tents on extraordinary pieces of private land like this beautiful fruit farm near Meade, Washington. You can also choose to pay a little extra to have one of their fruits or some fresh eggs from their farm delivered to your site for a delicious blend al fresco. Of course, Idaho is a short distance from Seattle, but we’d drive far enough to be within sight of this weather. Plus the little details like the online sauna and antique coffee really melt my heart. Pets are allowed, although judging by the CD, you may need to consider whether this is a good party for you.
