One thing I really like about Waterville Valley Resort is that the resort has long, flat runways. It’s actually a cross-country ski trail, which is weird, but skiers know the trail is both pedestrian and dog-friendly, so we rarely see skiers on the trail. Isi the husky loves to go for a walk! He came to live on the ice road, and even though he is 14 years old, he is like a young dog again. We had so much fun!
I really hope to take you there in the summer, but for various reasons the summer is not good. He’s starting to slow down and I’m afraid he won’t be able to do even the lightest of climbs after this year.

There are very few hotels in New Hampshire in the area that are dog friendly. Surprisingly, Waterville Valley Resort allows dogs on the resort grounds and on certain trails, but the hotel does not allow dogs!
There are many accommodations around the resort, many owners rent their place, but no pets. There are also several cabins around the house, but only one is pet friendly. It is called a snowy owl. We stayed there once a year and it was horrible. The location is great, you can walk to everything in the resort including the dog trails I mentioned above. I’m glad to see it under new ownership now, so I hope it arrives soon. It looks like the previous owner didn’t put any money into improving it and we won’t be staying there again unless some changes are made.

For the past few years, we have stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, a Marriott property in Plymouth, New Hampshire. About 20 minutes from Waterville Valley Ski Area, but great location! We love it there.

I went canoeing years ago, but those years are gone. Rafts are more comfortable and social. You can cruise, gently float down the river on a chair wave while everyone else is in the boat, and you’re floating with 3-8 friends and no one else. And there’s no fear of getting turned around and losing your stuff.
