ACTion Programs for Animals (APA) will host an event on Saturday, July 22 at 1:00 AM. A low-cost microchipping and vaccination clinic will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the APA Adoption Center, 537 N. Solano Drive in Las Cruces.

The following services will be provided for $15 each: Rabies vaccine: one-year dose, three-year dose as needed; the chip; Bordetella vaccine.

These services will be provided free of charge through Petco Love’s National Vaccination Initiative: DAPP (distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza and parvo) vaccine; and FVRCP (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia) vaccine.

“Thanks to Petco Love, APA can provide free vaccinations to pet owners in our community,” said APA CEO Michel Meunier. “Our low-cost, bi-monthly clinics are the only clinics in the area that offer three-yearly rabies vaccinations for eligible animals, and that makes our clinics different.”

According to a press release, APA can only handle well-behaved dogs and cats in transit. Anyone bringing their pet to the clinic should park their vehicle in front of the clinic, APA said. Each person is called into the building when it is their turn. APA accepts cash or credit cards.

Anyone needing a walk-in clinic should contact the Mesquite Animal Vaccination Clinic at 575-650-2000 or the Mesilla Valley Animal Services Center at 575-382-0018.

Since May 2012, APA has rescued more than 5,800 animals. They were mostly dogs and cats/kittens taken from the urban shelter. APA is able to do this through the volunteer work of rescue/foster coordinators, foster families and donations.
