Dog Friendly Day Trips

Dog Friendly Day Trips – Yosemite is one of our favorite national parks! The view is breathtaking and there is much to see around the park. We had gone several times without the doll, but we knew we would have to take her there one day.

Most national parks in the United States have strict rules for dogs. At the time of writing this post (February 2021), dogs are allowed on all paved roads in Yosemite. Check their official website for the most up-to-date animal regulations.

Since you are limited to the number of places you can go with your child in Yosemite, we recommend a one or two day trip. Below are the places where you can bring your dog!

Dog Friendly Hendersonville Day Trip [fall Edition]

We are based in the SF Bay Area and are visiting Yosemite on a very long day trip. We usually leave around 5 or 6 in the morning, come to the park around 10.00 and then go home at sunset. Traveling can definitely be made more comfortable by staying in a dog-friendly Airbnb or hotel to break up.

Tunnel View is Yosemite’s classic desktop style background view. The place is right next to the road and gives you the most amazing view of the park. This is a quick photo stop and there are 2 parking lots nearby.

The Bridalveil Falls trail is a short paved hike to see the falls. We haven’t had the gouda here yet as the road is temporarily closed.

Glacier Point is a nice stop where you can see the park from the top of the mountain without getting there. You can drive up Glacier Point Road from Yosemite Valley to get to the top of the park. There is plenty of parking and a short paved trail along the cliffs at Glacier Point. We saw a lot of dogs here when we visited last summer!

Pet-friendly Tours And Things To Do In Palm Springs

Note: Glacier Point Road is only open in summer as it is very difficult and dangerous with snow. Check the park’s official website for road closure information.

Lower Yosemite Falls is a great short hike in Yosemite Valley. Opinions about this trip change a lot depending on the time of year you visit. When we went to Goda last summer, you could barely see the falls because most of them had dried up!

The walk is very popular and we saw many dogs along the way. This is one of Yosemite’s most popular attractions, so you definitely want to check it out!

The Merced River flows through Yosemite Valley. There are many campsites and picnic areas near the river. While hiking one of the dog friendly trails in Yosemite Valley, we had to make a quick stop for a quick swim in Gouda! It was near the swing bridge picnic area.

25 Fun Things To Do With Your Dog

Mirror Lake was dry when we visited, but the trail to get there is nice and dog friendly. The trail section is not dog friendly when you get to the lake, but there is still plenty to see on the dog friendly section!

We haven’t bought Gouda here yet, but we plan to go with it on our next trip here!

Yosemite can get very busy, especially during holiday weekends and high season. To avoid the crowds, try to visit on a weekday or off-peak (

Pack plenty of water for both you and your dog! Especially if you visit in the summer, it can be hot!

Bongo! I’m Christine and this is my dog’s puppy! Welcome to our dog-mom lifestyle blog where we plan to share our favorite dog-friendly activities, travel, DIYs, puppy-raising tips and more! Looking for a fun day out with your dog around Melbourne? Whether you prefer to hit the beaches or the mountains, stay close to the city or go on a road trip, I have lots of ideas for dog day trips around Melbourne, all within a 2 hour drive of the city center . Which of these fun ideas will you try with your child in the future?

Melbourne has a world-renowned reputation for street art. And spending hours exploring it on foot is actually a fun activity to do with your child. Unlike art galleries, there are no rules for walking animals in the streets!

The best known place for street art in Melbourne is Hoosier Lane in the city centre, not far from Federation Square. I also recommend the proximity to ACDC Lane and the duckboard area, which are generally less crowded. Take your dog for a walk along with a trip to a dog-friendly cafe, whether on a city street or on the banks of the Yarra.

If you don’t fancy going into the city centre, there are also plenty of great examples in other inner city areas, ideal for combining brunch at a cafe or a drink at a local pet-friendly pub .

Borrego Springs: A Dog Friendly Day Trip

If you prefer a nature walk to dirt roads, one of the best places to go is just outside Melbourne’s Yu Yangs Regional Park. Located less than an hour from central Melbourne, this local park welcomes dogs to join you as long as they stay on a lead.

Yu Yang is named after the local Aboriginal word for “big mountain in the middle of the plain”. The most popular hiking trail in the park goes to the summit of Flinders Peak. From the top of this granite there is a wonderful view towards Melbourne and the Bellarine Islands. It takes about an hour to complete the 3.5 km round trip, with many steps along the way.

There is also a choice of both short and long trips, including some smart options. An easier option is the 800m circuit around Big Rock. Don’t miss the short walk to the top of this granite outcrop, just 100 meters from the car park. There are also several picnic areas in the park.

A lovely weekend getaway from Melbourne that your child will simply love is Miss Drew’s Bakery and Dog Cafe on Mornington Island. Located behind Taib Packing House and surrounded by antique shops, Dog Cafe is open Saturday and Sunday. (It’s best to double check the opening hours beforehand.)

20 Best Dog-friendly Days Out Around London

On the menu is a variety of treats for your dog, from poggies to muffins and cookies. Maybe order one of their dog food offerings and enjoy it at one of the many tables. There is also a shop selling treats and toys and the option to order birthday cakes for dogs.

Although there are no human options on the menu, instead cross the aisle to Rattling Red Cafe and grab yourself a cup of coffee.

St Kilda has long been a popular destination for day trips in Melbourne and is also a great place to meet your boyfriend. Although your dog is not allowed on rides in the Luna Park theme park, instead take a walk along the pier (where dogs are allowed on a lead) and enjoy the surrounding beaches.

The nearest dog-friendly beach in St Kilda is on the west side of the pier, next to the drainage channel near Pier Road. Here, dogs are allowed to be leashed all day, all year round. On the east side of the port, dogs are only allowed on the sand in winter. Dogs are also allowed all year round on the sand at St Kilda West, except for the sensitive dune area, between Brooks Jetty and the northern end of the St Kilda Marina car park.

If you’re visiting St Kilda on a Sunday, be sure to check out the market stalls along the Esplanade. Also, be sure to head over to Gray Street and visit Chez Misty. This French creperie has a full menu of crepes and puppies just for dogs, as well as savory galettes and sweet crepes for humans. There are sofas for the fish in the back, while there is also a relaxation room inside.

Chez Misty is not only a dog-friendly creperie, they also offer paddling events and brunch for brave pets. You will first enjoy a one-hour stand-up paddleboard session with your child, then have breakfast together at Chez Misty.

During the summer of 2022-23, Paddle and Brunch runs several days a month, a mix of Saturdays and weekdays. Consider the 2023-24 calendar. Groups are kept small at four people and dogs, life jackets are included and a SUP lesson from Karen from SUPs for PUPs. Of course, lots of photos will be taken too!

Want more opportunities to learn paddleboarding with your child? Check out the wide range of pup lessons offered by SUPS, both in Bayside and on the Mornington Peninsula. They even offer dog swimming for less confident dogs!
