Dog Friendly Vacations Quebec

Dog Friendly Vacations Quebec – Does your dog travel with you? This is the second dog-friendly trip that Henry and I have done, and while it takes a little more planning, it’s always a lot of fun.

(Our first dog trip was to California and it was so much fun! You can read all about it here.)

We love traveling with Henry and this is his first trip. We visited Quebec City which was much more dog friendly than we expected!

Choosing the right hotel is key to any dog-friendly trip. If you are traveling with your dog for the first time, check out this blog post where I talk about choosing a pet friendly hotel.

We traveled with my parents and their oldest dog, Lupo, a 10-year-old Coton de Tullier. Choosing the right hotel is important for all of us and our dogs.

Dog Friendly Travel In Jasper

We stayed at the Port Royal Hotel next to Quebec Harbor and in Old Quebec. We didn’t use the car during our 5 day stay which was very convenient.

The daily pet fee is $25 per day (which is a little unusual, because of covid they didn’t clean our rooms during our stay). However, a pet fee must be expected when traveling, so plan ahead.

I love that they have a kitchenette in the room including a coffee maker, stove and toaster. Very convenient as we brought our own breakfast and snacks, most importantly we were able to stock Henry’s food in the fridge and freezer.

We are on the first floor, we have our own terrace where we can sit outside with our dogs without disturbing anyone. This is a great place to have breakfast and relax together.

The restaurant next door, Louis Tavern & Bar a Vin, is very nice and allows dogs on their terrace (as long as they don’t bark).

In fact, many restaurants are dog-friendly. By law dogs are not allowed in actual restaurants, but most patios are dog-friendly, but you always have to ask because we were turned away at one place.

When Lupo and I were traveling with our 10-year-old Coton de Tuliere, we planned our days around how safe it would be to walk him. Don’t mark too hot all week!

Our days were spent exploring new streets and places and for a few hours during lunch our dogs were in Rover with Linda, we found a lovely pet who cared for our children. This is very useful for us because we cannot leave the dogs alone in the hotel.

Dog-friendly Woodstock, Ontario

Planning ahead is essential. We booked all the meals before we left so we knew what schedule we could give to pet care. It also saved us from long waits at restaurants and we didn’t have to find anything

I recommend planning ahead when traveling with your dog. Having a dog with you is an added responsibility and you need to make sure that you are getting a decent dog owner.

& La Buche, a take on Quebec favorites. We sat on the porch and most likely brought the children. I recommend asking before you go!

For dessert or an afternoon snack, try the Casse-Crot Roquette! There were lots of dogs hanging around the porch when we left.

Port-royal Historic Site, Nova Scotia Is (mostly) Dog Friendly

If you’re looking for a great dog-friendly adventure in Quebec, check out Parc de la Chute Montmorency. This historical waterfall with a height of 83 meters has become one of the famous tourist attractions of the region.

Take a moment to cross the suspension bridge. Now I have a money phobia, I can’t get over Henry in particular (he’s fearless though) but my parents say it’s great!

This is where I like to walk. To reach it, we took the cable car for a panoramic view of not only the waterfall, but also the river St. Lawrence, Ile-d’Orleans and Quebec City.

Parc de la Chute Montmorency is a great place to walk, explore and take photos with your dog, but be sure to bring plenty of water for your pup, especially if you’re visiting in the summer. We brought our own portable water bottle. I love that it fits easily in my waist bag! (I’ll link a few at the bottom of the post!)

Montmorency Chute is 20 minutes from our hotel. After visiting the waterfalls, we headed to the dreamy island of Ile d’Orleans. Montmorency Chute is 15 minutes away.

We drove around and kept the puppies cool in the car. We stopped for jam at Tigidou and ice cream and chocolate at Chocolaterie de l’Île d’Orléans.

Other must-sees include the vineyards, strawberry fields, and lavender fields. Ile D’Orléans is a foodie’s dream and we will definitely have to go back to try some of the local cuisine!

This was our first visit with Henry, so we had a lot going on. Quebec is 3 hours away and Henry likes to drive so we don’t have to worry. If your dog is not used to driving, you can teach it a little before you go.

When it comes to packing, it’s good to think about the items you use every day.

Also, measure the right amount of food depending on the duration of the trip. We pay extra attention to freezing food (Henry’s Fasting Diet).

We really enjoyed our visit to Quebec City and were happy to see how dog friendly it is! But there was so much to see and do that we will definitely have to come back.
