If you are new to wild swimming, it is wise to wear a wetsuit as it will keep you warm and also increase flexibility. This year I only swam in the summer and got away with just a wetsuit, but I buy a wetsuit for the colder months.

Tongue Pot And The Spectacular Swimming Holes Beyond — Walk My World
Designed and built by Dean Wronowski, Bude Sea Pool Cornwall is a semi-natural pool and a safe haven for keen beginner swimmers. Built in the 1930s, the pool is gently inundated by ocean waves and is a beautiful place for a wild swim. It is run by local charity Friends of Bude Sea Pool (FoBSP).
My favorite swimming spot is at Hampstead Heath near central London. There are several pools here, but only three with wild swimming opportunities. There is a mixed lake, as well as separate lakes for men and women. These are great places to float, read and watch the world go by, and have been featured in many movies over the years.
I’ve added this because it’s far from me in Milton Keynes at the end of the car park. In summer, this area is busy with family and friends relaxing. You can park in the car park or in the village and walk. Or you can land near castles and dams, as well as green grass. This is one of my favorite places to swim near

Swimming At Florida State Parks
At the foot of the Black Cuillins are the famous Fairy Gardens, a series of clear blue pools on the River Brittle, now one of the best wild swimming spots in the UK. Remember you are still in Scotland, so a suit is recommended.
When I lived in Cambridge, it was one of my favorite places to swim near. The area around Grantchester is English-speaking, so when you add the river and hot summers, it feels like you’ve stepped back in time. Grantchester Meadows is said to have been visited by Lord Byron, so you’re in good company.
Three Shire Heads is the point on the X Edge Moor where Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire meet and it’s also a great wild swimming spot with waterfalls and all. Even on a cloudy day, it’s a great place to stop while hiking, picnicking, paddling or swimming if you’re adventurous.
What an iconic place to swim! At the foot of Mount Snowdon, near the village of Llanberis, is the magnificent Llyn Padarn. Glacier Lake is a popular spot and is well known among families in the area. The lake has a variety of swimming spots, from shallow pools to deep water for confident swimmers.

Surrounded by beautiful beaches and rocky cliffs, the lake is another great place to swim near me. It was a shell mine until 1910, but was later abandoned. Today, it is an adventure center for diving, snorkeling and diving. It hosts the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, which visited the Blue Lagoon in 2012 – the first time the event was held in the UK.
The clear waters of Bernere Sands draw thousands of people to its shores every year. The beaches of Bernere Island in the Outer Hebrides are stunning and offer incredible views of the Harris Mountains. You can swim, explore the sand dunes and admire the colorful scenery of the island.

5 Alpine Lakes Near Summit County
This charming village is in the heart of the Exmoor Moorland and is a wonderful place for swimming. Visit the Tar Steps, a prehistoric stone bridge, for the best location.
If you’re more of a triathlete than a Sunday swimmer, Lake 32 is the perfect place to swim. Located in the Cotswold Country Park, the lake and beach are a great place to swim for more confident and competitive swimmers. The lake is about 6 feet deep and has pools at 200, 400, 750, and 1,500 feet.
The Outdoor Swimming Society is really worth joining as it has over 25,000 members and is the largest outdoor swimming group in the UK and is free to join.
