It is ideal for dog walking and offers fantastic routes in both directions, giving you great breath and views of the North Sea. All the beaches in this area are grouped together, meaning you and your four-legged friend can explore as much as you want without interruption.
California Cliffs Holiday Park, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk
Cart Gap is another sandy beach that is never too crowded. The entrance is at the end of a single-lane road bordered by miles of farmland. You’ll see as many tractors as cars here, but there’s still a lovely little cafe, Smallsticks, a stone’s throw from the beach car park, ideal for a snack or two. This local legend allows you to sit outside and explore with your dog while you fill up with gas. The 40 minute drive from our Norfolk parks is the least scenic and well worth the time it takes to get there.
Happisburgh (pronounced ‘haze-bruh’) borders Cart Gap and offers a complete change of scenery with epic cliffs taking you to the sand in this part of Norfolk. The sand, created by coastal erosion, is calm even at busy times and is a good alternative to other beaches in the area.
You will discover an 18th century lighthouse that has performed many important functions over the years and is believed to be the oldest operating lighthouse in the UK. It is possible to climb almost 100 steps and be rewarded with a beautiful view of the sand and the picturesque town. Speaking of which, the settlement is a real Norfolk beauty, the Hill House Inn pub, church and cricket club are fantastic ingredients for a truly English atmosphere.
Holkham is one of the most beautiful Blue Flag beaches in England, let alone Norfolk. It is located north of the town of Wells-Next-the-Sea on the county’s north coast.
