Dog-friendly Places In Wales

The Berwick Museum and Art Gallery is open from April – late autumn, and dogs are welcome throughout. It’s a great museum with a variety of exhibits. My favorite part is the old Berwick section on the roof where you walk the dragon with your dog and there are lots of silly mirrors.

Barter Books in Alnwick is one of the largest bookshops in the world. It is very beautiful and unique and turns like a train station.

There is a section for children and don’t forget to look up to see the little train above the bookcase. Dogs are welcome in the library (with chairs) and the friendly section of the cafe. Watch the video to see and share with Fozzy our visit to the Book Barter.

Top Dog-friendly Places For Staycations

Hexham Old Gaol is located in the heart of Hexham Town Center and welcomes dogs all the time. Open from April to late autumn. The museum is the oldest surviving prison and shares the lives of 1300 prisoners with exhibits that include sales and tours of the prison.

Warkworth Castle was one of the places we visited with Fozzy and Ollie. It’s not big and never too busy but enough for us to explore and make it a worthwhile visit. Warkworth itself is very friendly and the castle often hosts special events.

Dogs can travel free on old British trains and are welcome on non-special days. Tanfield said putting the dog in the door and out of the chair. It’s a nice little walk to try and there’s also a walk around Causey Arch.

Aln Valley Railway Aln Valley Railway operates regular, pacer and diesel trains to Alnwick and is a great place for a family outing with your dog (especially when combined with a trip to Barter Books). You can read our complete guide to visiting here.

One adult dog is allowed to travel on the Aln Valley Railway up to 10 dogs per car and guests must leave the dog off the seat.

Speaking of trains, just be aware that dogs were allowed on the trains on the Stephenson Railway in North Tyneside, but they are no longer. Check here for the latest information.

Dogs are not allowed in the main museum, but you are welcome to explore the historic buildings and grounds and there is a section outside the cafe where dogs can stay with their owners (overlooking the playground beautiful).

Dog-friendly Places In Dorset

Dogs are welcome at Eshott Airfield and can join their owners in the viewing area/cafe. It is a beautiful resort with an amazing view and you can watch many airplanes take off from the ground (if you take your time). The cafe food is delicious. Read our full review here.

Did you know that dogs are allowed in many shops and restaurants at Royal Quays? We have visited with Fozzy many times and found it to be a great place for dogs. Read our complete guide to visiting here.

It’s a good idea to check if some of your favorite stores allow dogs alone. For example, dogs are allowed in some areas of John Lewis and Fenwick.

There are too many dog-friendly restaurants and cafes to list here but I’m sure you’ll find something you like. Things to keep in mind if you want to visit something quick, easy and close to home.

Dogs are welcome in all areas of this museum in Sunderland which includes the airfield, WWII Street, Military Romney and more.

Emporium Ice Cream Parlor in Corbridge is very dog ​​friendly. Your dogs are welcome in their room and they also sell special dog ice cream and treats.

Metro, bus and train I think it would be worth adding that dogs are allowed on most public transport including the metro. It’s useful when it’s raining and you don’t want to swim but you have to go somewhere.

Dog-friendly Days Out

This is obvious but when my kids were little, they loved the orchard (even the pets at home). If you have to leave the house with small children when the weather is bad, it is always worth keeping these options in the back of your mind. Most pet stores stock all pooches to visit and welcome dogs in most pet stores (although they do check their cafe limits).

Ryedale Folk Museum is close to Eden Camp and you can visit them all in one day. Dogs are allowed in all areas of the museum including the building. There are no hotels, but there are dog-friendly hotels and restaurants in town.

The museum uses heritage and historic buildings to showcase the area’s long history (including the witches’ cave) and rare farm animals and 1950s roads.

Dogs are welcome to travel on the North York Moors Railway (except special carriages and dining). Tickets cost £3 and you are asked to keep your dog on the seat. We had a great trip on this train with Fozzy last summer.
