After all, vacations are more fun when you can bring your best friend with you. But finding family-friendly hotels in New England requires a lot of research. What is the hotel’s dog policy? Are there additional costs? Are there weight or style restrictions? But you may worry about sacrificing your personal comfort to travel with your dog. Is “scooting” to roadside motels and campgrounds the only option? Or is there a place that not only allows dogs but also cares about dogs and their owners?

Located on the shores of Lake Champlain, Basin Harbor believes that no family vacation is complete without four-legged family members. Their pet policy allows well-behaved dogs of all sizes in the cabin for a daily fee of $20 per pet. To book online, you can select any room and then add the pet fee at checkout.
Pet Friendly Garden Level King At Woodstock Inn
The resort has everything you need for a perfect vacation without leaving the sprawling 700 acres. Choose from a variety of fun activities for the whole family, from land to lake. The guest pool and swimming pool are free for pets, but dogs have their own swimming area, Fanny Beach. We were even able to rent a boat to go out on the lake with Roscoe! In addition, you can dine in one of the five restaurants located there. Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, but are welcome to dine with you in Red Mill’s outdoor lounge. Dog walks and work stations are also available if you want to have some fun without Fido.
From land to water, there are plenty of friendly things to do in Basin Harbor.
Field Guide Lodge in Stowe is a luxury hotel managed by Lark Hotels. Like most of their properties, their pet policy allows dogs under 70lbs for an additional fee of $50 per dog per day. We stayed in one of their three dog-friendly cottage suites, which are spacious and have a private front door. You can book it online, just be sure to include a note at checkout with your dog’s number, size and name. Dogs cannot be left alone in guest rooms. Out of respect for other guests, leashed dogs are only allowed on the verandah and outside the hotel.
This restaurant stands out for its elegant decor. The retro wood stove and elegant fur-lined bathroom invite you to curl up with a book or a board game. You can have breakfast at the coffee bar or have a drink and a bite at the Après Only bar at New Vintage Ski. You have to book the outdoor hotspot first, which is not good. But the advantage is that you can experience it yourself. In a state that cannot be defeated. We can walk into town, the mountain plane stops right in front of the hotel. The Inn at Mountain View Farm is a unique place to stay in the heart of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Per their pet policy, dogs are allowed for an additional $50 per night in certain rooms: Peacham, Danville, N. Danville, Maidstone and Lost Nation. You can choose “good pets” to post your home online. The hotel is very pet-friendly and a friendly golden cheese staffs the reception desk and even has an animal shelter on site. Just know if your dog reacts around other animals!
We stayed in the Deluxe Peacham room, which was nice and comfortable. Roscoe especially liked to sleep in front of the wood stove. In the morning we were welcomed at the guest house with a fire in the oven and coffee. Just when we thought we couldn’t eat any more, the owner brought out his famous pancake mix with field-raised blueberries. We can not resist.
With 400 acres of pristine mountain range in the Northeast Kingdom, this historic farm is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. On the top of the mountain and morning is in the valley.
The Kimpton Taconic in Manchester has one of the most generous hotel policies I’ve seen. Everyone is welcome, from fur to wings, as long as they fit in the lift! There are no restrictions on size, weight, breed or number of pets, and there are no deposits or fees. Simply filter for pet-friendly when booking online and complete the pet form at check-in.
Pet-friendly Cabins In Vermont
Kimpton Taconic is definitely the best place to take charge of your dog. The room has food bowls, toys, food and an Orvis dog bed. (The Orvis flagship store is just down the road to take your dog). Dogs are allowed in the lobby and in the front dining room of the hotel’s restaurant, Copper Grouse. In the winter they have heaters outside, making sure you and your kids are warm. Additionally, you can request pet services including pet sitting, dog walking and spa services by contacting the front desk.
Made Inn Vermont in downtown Burlington is a home away from home for you and your pet. Pet Policy This boutique B&B welcomes well-behaved companions with a daily pet fee of $25. You can book directly online, just make sure you include your dog in the number of visitors and show the details in the notes.
We stayed in room 904, one of the larger rooms reserved for large dogs. It’s even nicer at Roscoe, and the bathroom is down the hall (though at least it’s private). The quality of the lodge may not be for everyone, but it is well located in the countryside. The owner is very friendly and will immediately give recommendations for pet friendly hotels and things to do in Burlington.
Located between Killington and Rutland in central Vermont, Mountaintop Resort is not only dog-friendly, but they prefer dogs. Their pet policy states that canine friends are welcome in four luxury guest rooms and a variety of guest rooms with cookies, dog beds and Vermont dishes. You can book for an additional fee of $50 per dog per night. Maximum of two dogs per group. Dogs must be registered at the time of your booking.
Paw-fectly Pet-friendly Places
The Lodge invites you to “come to see, stay to experience”. The resort is located on 700 acres amidst the green mountains and offers incredible views of Chittenden Falls. With access to this wonderful outdoor play area, there’s no shortage of fun things to do with your dog. During the warmer months, enjoy the private beach with kayak, canoe and paddle board rentals. Explore cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter and spring.
The Stowe Half is my favorite hotel in Stowe. You can call to reserve a dog-friendly room on the ground floor, which allows each dog an extra $25 per night and has direct access to the hotel’s large lawn.
This warm and welcoming home is built in a unique landscape of trees and beautiful mountains. It feels timeless and relaxing, a true alpine escape. The world around it may seem to be changing, but Stowe Half will remain a popular place for outsiders to call home.
With simple and clean rooms, this is one of the best hotels in Stow. Breakfast leaves a lot to be desired, so go elsewhere for your breakfast. And drink at Fritz Bar and relax with your dog. Choose between a game of soccer in the lodge’s big tent, read a good book in front of the big fireplace, or explore the area. A fire pit was roaring outside.
