Best Dog Vacations On East Coast
Known as Party Beach in the summer, it is much quieter in the off-season and is open to dogs to run free. Between 9/16-5/14 dogs are welcome on a leash all day. The only catch is that you have to get a Davy Dog license from City Hall. They offer 3 day, 8 day and lifetime licenses. The kiosk outside the town hall is available 24X7 and sells 3 and 8 day licences. The beach is about a kilometer long and there are toilets for you.

Consistently rated as one of the best beaches in the Hamptons, Main Beach allows dogs on leashes beginning October 1st and ending the second Saturday in May. You must make sure that your dog is within 300 feet of the road, keeping it on a leash to prevent accidents and injuries. East Hampton has five or more beaches that allow your dog to run free during the season.
The Jersey Shore is not known for its dog-friendly beaches. Most do not allow dogs in the summer and some allow dogs on a leash in the fall. However, Asbury Park has two options in the offseason. Bradley Beach is located south of Asbury Park and allows dogs on leashes from 9/16-4/20. It’s a quieter beach than the ones near Asbury, but it’s clean and nice and the parking is cheap. 8th Avenue Dog Beach is one of the beaches in NJ that allows dogs in the summer, but only between 6pm and 8:30am. From 10/1 they are welcome on the boardwalk if they are on a leash and in the beach at any time. The crowd disappears and there can be a wonderful social distance around you and your dog.
The Island of St. Simons is part of the barrier islands off the coast of Georgia. St. Simons has some of the most dog-friendly beaches in the South, allowing dogs during closed hours at most beaches during the summer. Between Labor Day and Memorial Day, many beaches allow dogs on leashes and under voice command all day, including East Beach and Massingall Park.
