This pub has recently been completely refurbished and is experiencing a new look. Sister pub to the famous King’s Head in Leamington (also with a very good reputation). Part of the building is said to have been haunted by Henry Card, a 38-year-old gamekeeper who accidentally shot himself on the premises on September 5, 1893. People say they saw him walking around out of the corner of their eye. I sat there on a quiet afternoon (there was good wifi too) and it was very pleasant. The fire was lit and lit, the acoustics were good, the lunch was excellent, the portions were generous but tasty, and the service was top notch. Very impressive and definitely back.
Our local, this is a pub that has played a role in my life for 9 years. Always popular with locals and visitors alike, the sun sets there in summer, meaning the street atmosphere is cheerful and relaxing, especially on summer evenings. And everything is there. Dogs are also welcome at the bar. The restaurant location is definitely “real” and you need to reserve a place for every weekend. The bar can be quite noisy due to the excitement of the locals, and it’s small enough that you can’t use it as an escape to work or read a book. Sofas were installed next to the restaurant a few years ago and it’s a great place to get away from the family and read the paper without having to drive anywhere.
The drink prices are obviously good, but the food is more expensive than other places – although very good. Book your meal here as soon as possible.
Popular in the bootleg era and still popular today, this pub is great fun for a cheap weekend meal. Everything is homemade, generous, cheaper than most, and most importantly, very unique. This is a favorite forest and locals flock here. There is good parking for tractors, trailers, bikes and horses (there are good moorings) and a very relaxed dog policy, which helps make the park easily accessible for everyone. The staff is cheerful and sometimes loud. Load space is limited so you may have to wait a bit. You are not here to find peace and quiet. Be sure to come here for fun and affordable food. Behind the pub is a vast, kilometre-long area of woodland heathland. It’s a good walk from here, and if the kids get bored and stop eating too soon, send them for the mats and jump from the tents and streams behind the pub. They can walk for about an hour before finding their way.
