The weather in Palm Springs is said to be pleasant all year round, but there are certain times that are considered the best to visit: winter and early spring. Palm Springs is best enjoyed during the winter months of November-January, because while the rest of the country is suffering from cold and snow, Palm Springs boasts sunshine and temperatures of 65-75 degrees.
When traveling to Palm Springs with your dog, I would not recommend visiting after March. Unless, of course, your only plan during your visit is to be near the lake. The temperature is usually around 100℉ and can reach up to 115℉ with less than 10% humidity.
Being in Palm Springs and the surrounding desert is such a blast and one of my favorite things about visiting this city. I’m a huge fan of mid-century modern architecture and the desert, so renting hotels and apartments in this area would be just heaven.

4 Paws Coffee Co. It’s a dog-themed establishment in Palm Springs that you should check out. We were greeted with open arms as soon as we walked through the door and the cafe was decked out in colorful and protective clothing. While Ryu was loaded with a puppy cup, Ryu and I enjoyed cake and coffee in the cafe. Purchases from the coffee shop support their efforts to help local shelters, and strengthen their mission to bring great coffee, food and fellowship to the Palm Springs community.

The Moorten Botanical Garden is a private botanical garden created to share the beauty of desert plants with all visitors. Famous desert trees, plants and cacti come from all over the world and range in size from small to giant. They are home to the world’s first cactarium, my favorite part of the garden, and they allow dogs on a leash throughout the garden.
Parking for the park is around the corner from the S Palm Canyon Dr entrance. Admission is $5 per person and dogs are free. You can explore this small park in 30 minutes on a leisurely walk around the house. We spent more time here because I was worried about taking pictures in the cactus. If you visit during the week, you should be lucky because there are few or none.
Another unique feature of Southern California is the locations of wind turbines. They actually have an official tour of Palm Springs to get to know them better, but I’m not sure if they allow dogs. We choose to express ourselves.
To see the wall seen below, take I-10 to Canyon Drive and Garnett. If you are heading north on Indian Canyon, turn left on Garnet and continue about 1/4 mile; You will see some places where you can park. There is no traffic in this area, so you can park wherever you want to shoot as long as you don’t block the highway.

I recommend going at sunset. The desert shows a cotton sky at sunset, but the sun hides behind the mountains early, so make sure to arrive before the actual sunset. The turbine is blocked off, but it is barely visible because of the mountain behind the site. You just have to accept it.
While there are restrictions when it comes to visiting Joshua Tree National Park with your furry friend, there are still other dog-friendly activities that allow you to experience different areas of the park while visiting with your dog. This mid-century community is a must for lovers of mid-century modern architecture. Almost all of the homes in Indian Canyon are built in a mid-century style, with large glass windows, large balconies, and large lake access. As such, it has a rich architectural history and stunning, unobstructed mountain views.
You may have seen some of these homes on Instagram with their beautiful landscaping and beautiful front doors. The best way to enjoy these houses is to park and walk the streets. I prefer the houses South of Yosemite and South of Camino Real.
